The GATE Syllabus for Electrical Engineering  is divided into ten main sections. The main topics included in the syllabus are; 

Electric circuits, Engineering Mathematics, Electromagnetic Fields, Signals and Systems, Electrical Machines, Power Systems, Control Systems, Electrical and Electronic Measurements, Analog and Digital Electronics and Power Electronics. 

Check below for a detailed section-by-section syllabus. Section-wise Electrical Engineering Syllabus Section 1: Engineering Mathematics Linear Algebra, Calculus, Differential Equations, Complex Variables, Probability and Statistics.  

Section 2: Electric Circuits Network Elements consists of ideal votlage and current sources, dependent sources, Network theorems, etc.  

Section 3: Electromagnetic Fields Columb's Law, Electric Field Intensity, Electric Flux Density, Gauss's Law, Divergence, Electric Field and Potential due to point, line, plane, etc.  

Section 4: Signals and Systems Representation of continuous and discrete time signals, shifting and scaling properties, linear time invariant and causal systems, etc.  

Section 5: Electrical Machines Single phase transformer: equivalent circuit, phasor diagram, open circuit and short circuit tests, regulation and efficiency; Three-phase transformers: connections, vector groups, parallel operation; Auto-transformer, etc.  

Section 6: Power Systems Basic concepts of electrical power generation, ac and dc transmission concepts, Models and performance of transmission lines and cables, Economic Load Dispatch (with and without considering transmission losses), Series and shunt compensation, etc.  

Section 7: Control Systems Mathematical modelling and representation of systems, Feedback principle, transfer function, Block diagrams and Signal flow graphs, etc.  

Section 8: Electrical and Electronic Measurements Bridges and Potentiometers, Measurement of voltage, current, power, energy and power factor, etc.  

Section 9: Analog and Digital Electronics Simple diode circuits: clipping, clamping, rectifiers; Amplifiers: biasing, equivalent circuit and frequency response; oscillators and feedback amplifiers, etc.  

Section 10: Power Electronics Static V-I characteristics and firing/gating circuits for Thyristor, MOSFET, IGBT; DC to DC conversion: Buck, Boost and Buck-Boost Converters; Single and three-phase configuration of uncontrolled rectifiers, etc.

IISc Bangalore had released the GATE 2024 scorecard on 23 March 2024.Candidates can download their scorecard up to May 31 from the GATE 2024 official website. After May 31, candidates will need to pay INR 500 for downloading their scorecards. The facility to download GATE scorecard 2024 will be available up to December 31. 

Note that the GATE exam scorecard is valid for three years following the announcement of the results. Also, the admission counselling for M.Tech courses will be conducted by the COAP for courses offered by IITs, and the CCMT will conduct admission counselling for M.Tech programs offered by NITs, IIITs, GFTIs, and CFTIs.
