As per the English language criteria mentioned on the UTM website, having a TOEFL score of 85 is not enough for admission to Universiti teknologi Malaysia. The minimum required TOEFL score is 95 for both undergraduate and postgraduate programs. However, it's important to note that the needed score can vary based on the programme and level of study. For instance, the required score for the Teaching English As A Second Language (TESL) programme is lower, set at 79 for TOEFL iBT. Therefore, it is advisable to check the specific English language requirements for the programme you are interested in before applying to UTM.

Cyprus International University (CIU) considers an 85 on the TOEFL to be a respectable result for Indian applicants. For Indian students, the university accepts TOEFL results as evidence of English language competency. Although the search results do not specifically state the TOEFL score criteria for CIU, a score of 85 is typically regarded as an excellent score for Indian students.
