Kerala SET is organized by the LBS Centre for Science and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram, for the students to be selected as Higher Secondary School Teachers and Non-Vocational Teachers in VHSE. Qualifying for the Kerala State Eligibility Test is stipulated as a mandatory requirement for candidates to be appointed as Higher Secondary School Teachers in the State. The Kerala SET exam is of a four-hour duration. As part of the Kerala State Eligibility Test exam, aspirants have to give two papers. While Paper 1 is common for all candidates, Paper 2 contains questions from the subject in which the candidate had a specialisation at the post-graduation level. Students can select from a list of 31 subjects to give the Kerala State Eligibility Test Paper 2 exam. The subjects are Arabic, Hindi Political Science, Biotechnology, History, Psychology, Botany, Home Science, Russian, Chemistry Journalism, Sanskrit, Commerce, Latin, Social Work, Economics, Malayalam, Sociology, English Mathematics, Statistics French, Music, Syriac, Geography, Philosophy, Tamil, Geology, Physics Urdu, German, and Zoology.
