No, Students who want to appear & qualify FMGE exam must have a MBBS degree. FMGE exam is conducted for the students who completed their MBBS degree from abroad and they want to practise in India. Though there are certain countries like UK, USA, Austraila, Canada & New Zeland, students passed from these countries don't need to appear in FMGE exam to practise in India.

A candidate need to focus on FMGE exam preparation around solving the multiple-choice questions. As there is no negative marking in the exam, this makes it easy for candidates to attempt the entire question paper. However, a minimum of 50% marks needs to be scored in order to receive the Pass Certificate from NBEMS

As per the NBE report on Institute wise performance in FMGE-2023, the FMGE passsing rate of MBBS students from Northern State Medical University is 18.77%. Of the 650 students who pursued MBBS from Northern State Medical University only 122 cleared the FMGE test in 2023. The FMGE passing rate is expected to increase from 2025 as most of the students who will give the exam from 2025 will be those who had qualified NEET exam because qualifying NEET was made compulsory for MBBS abroad in 2018.
