The GATE application process is divided into different sections - registration, filling out the details, uploading of the documents, and payment mode of the application form. Here is the list of details that are required at the time of filling the GATE application form-
- For GATE candidate registration - valid email ID, mobile number and name of the applicant
- Personal information - (candidate's name, date of birth, mobile number, parent's name, parent's mobile number, etc.)
- Communication details - address including the PINCODE
- Educational Qualification details -School and graduation degree details, college name and address with PINCODE

In such cases, try to visit the website and login back to your account to check the GATE payment status. If the application fee has been submitted sucessfully, then you can proceed to download and print the confirmation page. If not, then try making the payment again. However, if any amount has been debited from your bank account, but not received the acknowledgement for fee payment, then the money will be credited back to your account in few days.
- In case of UPI payment, it might take 24 to 28 hours and
- In case of debit/credit card, it might take a week for processing the transaction.

The GATE application fee for foreign nationals are -
- GATE fee amount during the regular period - INR 2000
- GATE fee amount during the extended period - INR 2500
Candidates must note that the application fees are also accepted through international master and Visa cards.

Candidates can make the payment of the GATE application form online. There is no mode of offline payment accepted. GATE registration fees can be paid through any of the following methods-
- Debit card
- Credit card
- UPI
- Netbanking
- International master and visa cards
After making the payments candidates are advised to keep the payment receipt safe till the admission process.

The GATE application fee is different for all categories. The authorities have revised the GATE 2026 application fees on the website. Candidates can check below -

The GATE 2025 application fee during the extended application window is INR 1,400 for female, SC, ST and PwD category candidates. For all others, the fee is INR 2,300. Applicants can register for up to two test papers.Candidates who wish to apply for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering can do by applying at the official website.

Change in choice of examination cities: Free of cost
Change of existing paper: 500
Add a second paper (from given combinations concerning the primary paper): 500 plus a suitable amount per paper for the candidates category
Change of gender to female: 500
Change of gender from female to any other gender: 500+850 = 1350
Change of category to SC/ST: 500
Change of category from SC/ST to any other: 500 + 850 - 1350
Change from Non-PwD to PwD: 50

- A high-quality image of a candidate's photograph conforming to the specified requirements (File size should be between 2KB and 200KB)
- Good quality image of candidate's signature conforming to the specified requirements (File size should be between 2KB and 150KB)
