GATE cutoff depends upon the opted specialization and category you belong to. However, a GATE score above 700 can be good enough for top IITs.

Yes, you can take admission without GATE. But for IIT, IIIT, and NITS GATE is Compulsory.

Hello Ritobeena Roy, many PSU's recruit young engineers in large numbers every year. Earlier there used to be allegations of nepotism and fraud in the process of conducting written exams. To avoid all this and to have a level playing field, these days PSU's use GATE examination results instead of conducting their own examination. Due to this which paper you have selected for giving GATE is actually not important. What is important is the ranking of the marks that you obtained in this examination and of course you are basic engineering graduation which is being sought by the concerned PSU. Best wishes to you.

Prefer to go with IIT Gandhinagar if get. Because the GATE cutoff of top NITs like NIT Trichy, Warangal and Suratkhal etc are above 750.

Hello Pavani, many companies these days take performance in GATE examination for screening future employees. The advertisements keep coming in different newspapers and special publications regarding this aspect. Invariably a student is required to quote his results of GATE in these applications and hence can fill up applications only after results of GATE examination are announced.
