If you study well during your all eight semesters and has good understanding of basics of your branch then six months to one year concentrated preparation in final year for GRE will be good to score well.

No it's not same. GRE is the test of your basic mathematics, aptitude and English language however GATE is totally a test of your engineering subjects along with 15% aptitude and English.

For cracking GATE exam, brush up the 8 core subjects of CSE and of course your aptitude. You will get through it.

B.Tech EEE students are eligible to appear for GATE to seeking admission in M.Tech Aerospace engineering.

You have not mentioned about the stream and subjects. In my point of view, you should not be dependent on any particular book. Just go through the syllabus, search the topics on Google with GATE, IIT, MIT lectures tags. You will definitely get something useful.

Lots of Public Sector Units (PSU) use GATE score to shortlist candidates for Graduate Engineer/ Management trainees selections. If you are planning to look for job in PSUs,you may appear for GATE exam.
