The selection criteria for the B.E./B.Tech course at GCELT is primarily based on performance in entrance exams. Candidates must have passed 10+2 from any recognised board with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as mandatory subjects. Admission is mainly through the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) or through the All India JEE Main exam. Candidates are needed to achieve cut-off ranks for the courses. The college offers some seats under lateral entry in case of Diploma holders also. Candidates who have passed the entrance exam are included in the counseling process for seat allocation at central level.

You may not get the B.E. / B.Tech course for admission without appearing at any of these entrance tests-WBJEE and / or JEE Mains. The selections are to be carried out through scores drawn from this sort of an entry test/other similar aptitude examination from a school with above aggregate percentage required in particular 12 class subjects or Class 10 for entry during the JELET, among others. Thus, appearing for WBJEE or JEE Main is necessary to ensure a seat in the B.E. / B.Tech programs at GCELT.
