Getting into GCELT may be moderately competitive. The major criterion for selecting students for B.Tech courses is the results of the WBJEE exam. Candidates need to have the cutoff ranks in order to get admission into their preferred branches. Leather Technology, Computer Science, and Information Technology are the most sought-after engineering courses. Although GCELT has a specialised focus on leather technology, which separates it from most other engineering institutions, the general competition level is still dependent on the number of applicants and available seats.
