Yes, for taking the GRE at a test center in India, a valid passport is generally the primary and most highly recommended form of identification. If you carry a photocopied document, it is not acceptable. It should be in physical form, and a digital copy on your phone is not acceptable.

Here are the things you should carry with you at the exam centre of GRE.
- Your valid photo ID card, approved by the government. Keep the original ID card with you, a soft copy or photocopy of the ID card is not acceptable. (Recommend ID- Your Valid Passport)
- Own water bottle
- A mask (If required at that time).
