HPU accepts NEET scores for the admission to UG courses like BHMS and BDS. As per HPU cutoff 2024, the rank required to get admission is ranged between 699 and 195234 for the General AI quota candidates. Considering the BHMS HP NEET cutoff, the rank required to be stood at 699 for the General quota is very close to 700 rank, but candidates won't get admission at this rank because it is more than the cutoff rank released. But other than BHMS, candidates can easily get admission for BDS and BAMS course as the last-round cutoffs for them are 734 and 195234, respectively. So, these courses can be accessed at a 700 rank.

No, candidates won't be able to get admission to HPU with 700 as the HPU cutoff 2024 in itself is 642 for MDS in Prosthodontics course under General quota, considering the last-round of seat allotment results. However, for OBC AI quota, 700 rank is more than enough to get admission at HPU. The HPU OBC cutoff 2024 stood at 761

Admission to HPU is conducted based on NEET PG scores. Candidates should have valid NEET PG scores to get into HPU. Moreover, 7k rank in NEET PG is sufficient to get admission at HPU. As per the HPU cutoff 2024 for the Round 2 seat allotment result, the cutoff ranged between 18439 and 70158 for the General AI category candidates. The courses available under 7k rank can be visible below in the table:

In the first year of the BTech degree at HPU Shimla candidates go through the concepts that they've already studied in their Class 11 and Class 12. This is done so that students know the basics of the concepts that they're going to use during their time at the course. The first year also ensures that students coming from different boards are on the same level about necessary concepts required for engineering. Candidates who have taken admission into the university in the latent entry BTech programme do not have to go through these concepts in the first year.

Yes, HPU Shimla provides reservation for students from Himachal Pradesh. Candidates who have passed out from schools in Himachal Pradesh have 60% reservation irrespective of caste category. To be eligible for admission, the candidate must have passed their Class 12 from a school recognised by the state or central board and should be geographically located in the state of Himachal Pradesh.

Accross various specialisations and various affiliated colleges, HPU Shimla provides 960 seats in its BTech programme. Out of all the affiliated colleges, University Institute of Technology and SRET College of Engineering and Technology provide the most amount of seats. Both the colleges provide 300 seats each in their BTech programme. Therefore, candidates applying for admission at HPU Shimla will also have to choose their preferred college of admission for BTech.

No, it is not difficult to get admission to HPU Shimla BTech. Admission into the BTech programme takes place through the JEE Mains & HPCET entrance exam. Therefore, if candidates are not able to secure admission into the BTech programme through JEE Mains they can apply for HPCET to secure admission into the programme.

The HPCET entrance exam is less competitive then the JEE Mains entrance exam. Therefore it is easier to score in the HPCET entrance exam and secure admission into the programme.

No, candidates can not take direct admission to HPU Shimla BTech programme. The admission takes place through the merit secured in HPCET and JEE Mains entrance exam. Thus candidates have to appear for the entrance exams to secure admission into the programme. Based on the applications received by the university, candidates are provided provisional admission. Class 12 results are only necessary to meet the eligibility criteria of the exam and do not provide direct admission.

HPU BTech academic session starts after the admission process ends for both the HPCET and JEE Mains entrance exam. The counselling takes place in June for both the exams and the academic session starts in July. Candidates aspiring to take admission into BTech at HPU Shimla need to wait till the counselling process is over for all entrance exams for the academic calendar to start. Therefore, candidates might have to wait for a while after giving their entrance exam for admission into the programme.
