The last date to apply for the July session of IIT Patna PhD admissions was March 4th 2026. Candidates who have appeared for the UGC NET before or are qualified for direct PhD admissions can apply for the IIT Patna PhD admissions. 

The July session of IIT Patna PhD admissions are currently open.

No, the IIT Patna PhD admissions are no longer open for the January session in 2026. The last date to apply for IIT Patna PhD's January admissions was October 22nd 2025. Candidates who missed this application window can still apply for the July session which are currently open.

Yes IIT Patna offers a relaxation in both the age limit as well as the minimum aggregate for last qualifying exams in the PhD admission criteria. Candidates are offered a relaxation of 5% along with a relaxation of 5 years in the PhD eligibility criteria during IIT Patna course admissions.

No, GATE is not a mandatory entrance exam for IIT Patna PhD admissions. To become qualified for IIT Patna course admission to the PhD course, candidates can also appear for the UGC NET as well. 

However, candidates with an appropriate CGPA in their BTech course from a Centrally Funded Technical Institutes can get direct admissions into the IIT Patna PhD course.

Your Double BA + MA degree is absolutely valid, provided it is completed from a recognized university (UGC-approved / government-recognized institution). The key factor for B.Ed admission is not how many degrees you have, but whether your the highest qualification meets the minimum eligibility criteria set by the university or NCTE guidelines.

  • Minimum 50% marks in Graduation or Post-Graduation (45% for reserved categories in many universities).

  • Degree must be from a recognized university.

CPGET syllabus is different for MA and MSc programs. Each subject has its own syllabus based on undergraduate topics. MA covers arts and humanities subjects, while MSc focuses on Science subjects.

Candidates who are applying for PhD courses from the engineering department such as NIT Jalandhar chemical engineering or NIT Jalandhar civil engineering departments must have a ME/MTech degree of the relevant field. However, NIT Jalandhar also offers PhD courses in Humanities, Science and Management sectors where, an ME/MTech degree is not required.

No, candidates without a PG level degree in the relevant field are ineligible to apply for the NIT Jalandhar PhD admissions. Candidates will need to have cleared a specific PG level course in accordance with their chosen PhD course at NIT Jalandhar. Go to NIT Jalandhar's official website for the eligibility criteria of individual PhD courses.

No, candidates who have either appeared for the GATE or UGC NET are not required to appear for the NIT Jalandhar PhD admission Written Test. The aforementioned written test is only applicable to part-time PhD admissions where the candidates have not qualified in either the GATE or UGC NET.

No, candidates cannot apply for NIT Jalandhar PhD admissions in offline mode. The information brochure of the institute has mentioned that the applications will be accepted strictly in online mode only.

Aside from the application process, the registrations for the accepted entrance exams also cannot be done in offline mode.
