It is highly competitive and quite difficult to gain admission to the Institute of Hotel Management (IHM) Chennai with just 70% of the possible points in your class 12 diploma. These are the main points to remember:
Instead of only considering class 12th percentage, IHM Chennai also considers candidates' performance in the OPENMAT or NCHM JEE exams.
Usually, candidates in the General category must score more than 130 out of 200 to meet the qualifying cutoff in the OPENMAT exam.
In order to have a shot listed at IHM Chennai in class 12, you must receive an aggregate score of at least 80% across all main boards.

It will be difficult to get general category B.Sc. admission at IHM Chennai with a 60% in the 12th grade. You can increase your chances by raising your NCHMCT JEE rank and profile. Students in the reserved group have higher chances.
For both the B.Sc. in Culinary Arts and the B.Sc. in Hospitality and Hotel Administration, the minimum 12th standard percentage required is 60%, and for both, it is 50%.
You are therefore ineligible for a B.Sc. in Hospitality with 60%, but not for a Culinary Arts degree.
In the past, general category students had to receive at least 65-70% in their 12th grade to be admitted to IHM Chennai's B.Sc. program.
