IIIT Guwahati admissions are held on the basis of entrance tests. For BTech, the accepted exam is the JEE Main. MTech admissions are held on the basis of GATE scoring. Students can pay the application fee and confirm their admission after the counselling round.

IIIT Guwahati offers MTech in three specialisations in online and on campus mode. The minimum eligibility criteria for each specialisation is the candidate must have scored a minimum CPI of 6.0 or 60& aggregate in the qualifying degree. However, for every MTech spcialisations the eligbility criteria is slightly different. The specialisation specific eligibility in mentioned below:
