In order to act as the hub for research, education, training, and consulting, IIM Kashipur has created three Centres of Excellence. A full-time bachelor's degree in any discipline or an equivalent academic pursuit (10+2+3) with a minimum of 50% marks or an equivalent CGPA (47% for NC-OBC/EWS, 45% for SC/ST/DAP) is required for admission to the IIM Kashipur MBA programme. Candidates also need to have a valid GMAT score, with the exam taken no earlier than May 1, 2022, or a valid CAT-2023 score. For candidates who belong to the Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Non-Creamy Other Backward Class (NC-OBC), Differently Abled Person (DAP), and Economically Weaker Section (EWS), IIM Kashipur adheres to the Government of India's reservation policies.

Whether IIM Kashipur is good for MBA or not varies from students to students based on different parameters set by them. However, if we look into data collected through various sources then IIM Kashipur ranked 19 by the NIRF in 2023. Several alumni reports speaks highly good about the professors, curriculum, extracurricular activities, etc. IIM Kashipur MBA placement for 2023 was 100%. Total 324 students were placed. The highest package offered was INR 37 LPA (domestic) and USD 39,240 per annum (international). However, the average salary offered was INR 18.1 LPA.
