No, BTech admissions at IIT Kharagpur accept the scores of the JEE Mains entrance exam to decide a candidate's admission. The exam is followed by the JoSAA counseling to finalise the admission of a candidate. The WBJEE entrance exam is not accepted for any admissions into the IIT Kharagpur courses.

The institute has given weightage to all the sections in CAT cut-off for the final shortlisting of the students. For General category candidates, the minimum CAT overall percentile is 90. This is relaxed for reserved category students and stands at 80 percentile for NC-OBC category students and 75 for SC, ST and PwD students. However, for final admisison, there is only an overall cutoff. For General category candidates, minimum CAT percentile is 90. The selection of candidates for admission to the MBA programme at VGSoM (IIT Kharagpur) is a two-step procedure. Applicants, who are shortlisted based on the eligibility criteria are called for an online Personal Interview (PI). Final admission to the MBA programme is then offered on the basis of a cumulative score of the application rating (AR), performance score in CAT 2024, and the candidate's performance in the online PI process.
