Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi.
Intermediate or two-year Pre-University examination conducted by a recognized Board/ University.
General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London/ Cambridge/ Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.
Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services wing of the National Defence Academy.

Any Public School/Board/University examination in India or in any foreign Country recognized as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

Candidates with PCM of +60% in class XII English +50% in 10th or 12th; and who have cleared the Indian Maritime University CET-Examination are eligible for selection to this course. One Year Pre-Sea training (Semester I & II) leads to a Diploma in Nautical Science (DNS for Merchant Navy). At the commencement stage of the programme, a candidate is already selected by an international shipping company who will provide training-placement on board their ships at the end of the Semester II. Distance learning programme for Semesters III, IV and V are on the ship. Thereafter, the candidate completes a 6 months shore-based training for Semester VI. Clearing the written and oral examination at the end of Semester VI leads to a http://B.Sc. Degree in Nautical Science from IMU as well as a Certificate of Competency by the Director General of Shipping, enabling the candidate to sail on board ships as a certified officer
