No, Institute of Commerce, Nirma University is not a Govt institute. The institute was established in 2003 as a constituent of Nirma University a private university of Ahmedabad, Gujarat and is a part of the Nirma Education and Research Foundation. Though it is a private institute the university is a research-oriented not-for-profit state private university.

Yes, Institute of Commerce and its parent Nirma University has been recognised by national bodies such as the UGC and has also been accredited by the NAAC with an 'A+' as well as the NBA. While among international organisations the institution has had its BCom course certificed by the ACCA.
