The institute features several modern facilities, including laboratories, an herbal garden, a canteen, and a hostel. Additionally, the Jammu Institute of Ayurveda and Research offers a hostel for both girls and boys, allowing students to avoid long-distance commutes and providing them with a good living environment.

Applicants who aspire to join Jammu Institute of Ayurveda and Research requires to pass 12th or any other equivalent examination from Institution authorised by concerned state government and Education Board with Science stream (chemistry, physics and biology) and scored minimum 50 to 60 percentage. Only NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) score are considered for BAMS admissin. For M.D. or M.S. course aspirants requires BAMS degree from recognised Board or Medical Institution. And minimum 50 percentile in entrance exam AIA - PGET by central government.

Jammu Institute Ayurveda and Research offers BAMS( Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and surgery) it is a four and half year course with one year internship, M.D. Ayurveda - Kaya Chikitsa ( three years course), M.D. Ayurveda - Sharir Kriya (three years course) and M.S. Ayurveda - Shalya Tantra ( Master of Surgery in Ayurveda) it is a three years course. In BAMS and MS it offers single course whereas it offers two courses for MD.
