Kongu Engineering College (KEC) and KPR Institute of Eng Tech are two popular engineering schools in Tamil Nadu, India. KEC is an old institute, having good rapport in the industry with experienced faculty members and been offering excellent placements (particularly for core engineering branches). KPRIET’s application closing dates differ based on the admission mode and course being applied for. Still, some general rules can be deduced from previous years’ trends;
The following are examples of closing dates for the different forms of B.Tech admissions:
- TNEA (Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions) counseling: This normally takes place between approximately July 15th and July 30th.
- Management quota: Nearly always occurs between August 15th and August 31st.
While M.Tech applications generally close as follows;
- TANCET (Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test) counseling: This mostly takes place from June 15th to 30th

At KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology (KPRIET), the M.Tech programme fees differ based on specialisation as well as admission mode. Current data suggests that in total, every student pursuing an M.Tech at KPRIET would spend approximately between Rs.1.5Lakh to Rs.2Lakh for their entire two-year course. Such cost entails tuition fee payment, charge for registration and other miscellaneous ones. The rate of the fee is lower for general government quota seats which ranges from Rs.1 Lacs to Rs.12 Lacs while management quota seat rates are higher standing at about 2.2 Lacs to 2.5 Lacs respectively ever changing.

Taking into account different factors such as demand of the industry, record of placements and feedback from the students, I can confidently say that Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) is one of the ideal programs offered by KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology. The CSE department has an excellent image with seasoned faculty members and well-stocked laboratories. Students from this department consistently get good placements; many being hired by leading IT firms like TCS, Infosys or Cognizant. In addition to that, a regular revision of curriculum is done so as to be in line with new developments taking place within the field

KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology (KPRIET) has an unsatisfactory placement record, which get better every year because of the efforts made by its placement cell. However, the packages are mostly average, ranging from 3 to 6 Lacs per annum, with a few exceptions of higher packages. Regular visits are made to the campus by reputed companies such as TCS, Infosys, Wipro, and Cognizant but much rarely do core engineering firms set foot there.
