Latin American Literature are a literary texts written by writers belonging to Latin America, the Caribbean and parts of North America. It also includes oral literature. You will also find that this literature is primarily written in Spanish language along with other indigenous languages. The major themes of Latin American Literature are politics and resistance, the construction of reality, civilization and barbarism and the construction of identity. 'El Periquillo Sarniento' by José Joaquín Fernández de Lizardi' is the first Latin Americal novel
