No, law is not a mandatory subject to fulfill SRM IST Kattankulathur BCom LLB (hons) eligibility criteria when passing from Class 12th. Candidates only need to pass Class 12 board exams with a minimum aggregate 60% from a recognised board. Their chosen stream or set of subjects in Class 12th are irrelevant.

SRM IST Kattankulathur BCom LLB (hons) admission accepts SRMJEEL scores which is conducted by SRM School of Law. However, candidates who have appeared in CLAT-UG can apply for admission through that exam's score. Appearing in either one of these exams is a mandatory requirement.

When compared with similar private law institutes such as VIT School of Law, SRM IST Kattankulathur BA LLB (hons) fees is slightly higher. However, SRM IST Kattankulathur BA LLB (hons) also has noticably higher student reviews at 4.6 instead of 3.8 that VIT School of Law has.
