It has the best placements, infrastructure, internships, faculty members, warden and caretakers. Placements: Around 90% of the students got placed from college. The highest salary package offered was 21 LPA and the lowest salary package offered was 5.5 LPA

Yes, it is possible, it won't affect admissions for sure. There are students in top IIM who took time off for UPSC preparation. However, I can't say the same for placements.

The placements are good in Thapar. 90% of the students are placed in 2018 batch. The highest package offered was 32 lacs per annum, offered by De Shaw. Many prestigious companies visit the college every year like Microsoft, Amazon, Adobe, De Shaw, JP Morgan, Walmart Labs, SanDisk, Samsung, Delloite
