Though both the courses aim to promote Fashion Design industry-related skills, the MDes in Fashion Design is more focused on the practical and studio-based coursework. Whereas, MSc Fashion Design is more about providing the theoretical know-how of the Fashion Design field. While MDes is more inclined toward creativity, MSc is focused on principles, elements, and thinking.

No, the Science stream is not mandatory in Class 12 to be eligible for an MSc Fashion Design programme in India. You can opt for this course regardless of any stream in Class 12, however, you'll need to fulfil the basic eligibility criteria to get admission to the programme i.e., to obtain a bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline from a recognised university.

An MSc in Fashion Design programme is worth pursuing if you have made up a strong mind to make a career in the field. While a bachelor's degree in Fashion Design will help you get a foundational knowledge of the Fashion Design field, an MSc in Fashion Design will not only provide specific knowledge around some elements but also help in getting mid-level positions in the companies.
