To be considered for admission to the University of Maryland, students should aim for a GPA greater than 4.45, as the average high school GPA for Fall 2022 applications was 4.47. The average GPA has improved since Fall 2020; that is, admissions to UMD in Fall 2020 had an average GPA of 4.36, whereas in Fall 2021, admissions had an average GPA of 4.39. Additionally, approximately 4,560 students in the fall of 2022 opted to submit their ACT or SAT results for application consideration rather than their GPAs. Therefore, the students have total control over how their applications are assessed.

It is always suggested to have two LOR’s while applying to any university. However, PG applicants require LOR’s while applying to Towson University. Hence applicants are asked to check the requirements on the official website course page to avoid last minute confusion.

The application time might vary for UG and PG students. As the university once receives all of the necessary documents, it usually takes three to four weeks to receive an undergraduate admissions decision. But for Graduate applications the time period changes, as it may take months to complete depending on the timeline and requirements for your specific program. Applicants are requested to please be patient and are asked to double check the documents before submitting.

A 2.5 GPA could be a little less for applying to Towson University as the university’s average weighted GPA of 3.93, although the general GPA requirement for admission is 3.0 and above. This actually shows that students surpass the average GPA, meeting the minimum requirement still qualifies applicants for consideration. The university also prioritizes students who have a scholastic performance. Hence overall applicants must have this GPA.
