M.Phil. in Journalism and Mass Communication: Eligibility:
Candidate must have passed the PG or equivalent examination with at least 50% (relaxable for reserved category candidates) of the marks from a recognised state/private/deemed or central University. He/She shall not be having any backlog or compartment in any of the subject/subjects at PG or equivalent level that is yet to be cleared at the time of taking admissions. Apart from the above-mentioned eligibility criteria various colleges and institutes may have their own additional criteria which the students would have to satisfy in order to take admission (like work experience of certain years). In case of reserved category students, they would have to present their reservation certificates issued by the competent authorities in order to avail the benefits applicable to them. Certain Institute provides admission through Common Entrance Test (CET) (Like AMU). To get admission in these institutes candidates would have to qualify the respective entrance exam by securing minimum qualifying marks. In order to pursue any journalism and mass comm course Diploma programme, you will have to first complete your education up to class 12 from a recognised board of education. You are required to score at least 45% to 50% marks in class 12 in order to be eligible for the undergraduate degree courses. However, post-graduate degree and Diploma courses require you to possess a graduation degree and Diploma respectively with at least 50% marks. Selection Criteria for Mass Communication Colleges:
Admission to most of the top Mass Communication colleges is done on the basis of merit in class 12 board exams. Some of the popular universities including KIIT University, BHU and GGSIPU conduct entrance exams for admission to Mass Communication Courses. Colleges may also conduct Group Discussions as well as Personal Interviews to assess the communication skills of candidates before offering a seat. Skills Required to be Mass Comm Specialist:

Hi Admit, At the beginning of the counselling procedure, you will have to fill a list of branches in the order of preference. In round, you will be given a seat in the first vacant branch (according to your CET rank) starting from the top. Now, you can either freeze the selection or wait for round 2. As the admission process moves forward some students from higher branches may leave their seat. This is where internal sliding comes in. If there are enough vacant seats in the branch above your alloted branch, you will be alloted that branch. This goes on till round 3. In round 3, you have to freeze your choice or you lose the chance to get any seat in IPU. Personal Advice : Don't do it, wait for spot counselling (explained later). If you freeze your seat at any point, that's it you will be studying in that college in that branch. If however you didn't freeze the selection, you are now proceeded to spot counselling. This is where the last of the seats are filled. There is no internal sliding after round 3 so if someone from better branch leaves, you will not be promoted. Spot counselling is pretty self explanatory you go in take a branch, submit a slightly higher university fees and come out. Explanation
If you are a student wanting to get admission in IPU, always wait for the spot counselling. NEVER freeze your selection before that. Trust me, a lot of people leave even after round 3 and you can easily get a seat much the highest in your preference order. Example : I am a BVP student who just completed first year here in CSE Department. My rank was in the late 2900-early 3000s (Delhi). People with a rank of 8k got admission in the same class with the same category. Also as far as I know, USICT was available to people with 5K rank just because of spot counselling.
