Yes, AAFT is a good college for the direction specialization. AAFT offers Diploma in Movie Direction, B.Sc. in Cinema, and M.Sc. in Cinema courses for those interested in movie direction. Under the Direction Specialization, students will learn about short film-making, feature film-making, documentary-making, Ad film-making, and music production for films. 

There are no particular qualifications required to become an actor but its much better if you get a formal training from a good institute.
