Admission to the course will be based on the online Indian Institute of Mass Communication entrance exam conducted by National Test Agencies. Two separate entrance exams are conducted for both specializations. The Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Kottayam offers a one-year Postgraduation Diploma in two specializations. Candidates who have appeared or appearing for the Final semester or year examination of their Bachelor's Degree are also eligible to apply. The age of the students must not be more than 25 years. 1- 15 percent of the seats are SC students.
2- 7.5 percent seats for ST students.
3- 27 percent seats for OBC Non-Creamy Layer students as per the Central List.
4- 10 percent of the seats for General-EWS students.
5- Reservation for Kashmir Migrant.
6- There are 5 NRI seats also available for each course in every Indian Institute of Mass Communication.
