Yes, you can join an MBA in IT without taking the CAT, as many universities and colleges offer alternative admission routes.

Some institutions conduct their entrance exams, while others may accept scores from exams like MAT, XAT, GMAT, or CMAT.

Therefore, candidates must research the specific requirements of the institutions they're interested in to find the best path for their MBA in IT.

I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University - Mohali Campus does not have a different cut-off for admitting students; however, a minimum of 45% aggregate in their 10+2 exams can usually get a student through the CMAT entrance. The university does not impose stringent cutoffs while admitting students, which makes the process more lenient for the students who have a decent rank in the CMAT. Please note that the eligibility criteria may slightly differ for each program and category. Admission information for most courses can be found on official websites; hence, it is recommended to view them for the latest updates.

Both GMAT and CAT entrance exams for MBA admissions. While CAT is required for Indian B-schools, GMAT is required for both Indian and international B-schools. GMAT is tougher than CAT because:

  • GMAT tests applicants holistically across its three broad sections - Quantitative Aptitude, Verbal Reasoning and Data Insights.
  • Also, GMAT is tougher than CAT because, questions on GMAT have stronger emphasis on global business school entrance exams and their specific requirements. CAT only focuses on In
