Candidates wishing to enter the navigational and engineering fields of Merchant Navy need to complete their B.Sc. degree in mechanical or marine engineering, before they can gain admission to the field. In some cases, students who have completed their 12th with PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) are eligible to join as Deck Cadets.
Navigating Officers - Candidates will need to obtain a Certificate of Competency, as per the regulations in India relating to the examinations of Masters and Mates. Conducted by the Ministry of Surface Transport, in association with the Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) Mumbai, the examinations help determine the promotion prospects for the officers.
For training, the best training institution for the navigating officers is the T.S. Chanakya. Candidates who qualify from here, that is complete their first certificate of competency of Second Mate, need to go through a three year training in Nautical Science (B.Sc.) and then complete a year's duration of practical training in the deck department of a merchant ship.Selection is based on the Joint Entrance Examination given by the IIT; a merit list is prepared after the written test and interview are completed and the Director General of Shipping has the authority to chose which of the 2 training programmes the candidate is best suited for (students can let their preference be known) Both the T.S. Chanakya and MERI institutions do help (under no Government obligations) in recruiting their graduates in suitable Indian Shipping Companies.
As far as remuneration and other benefits are concerned Merchant Navy is one of the few careers where the salary is relatively high. The pay is definitely different from company to company, depending on the city, country, export and import needs, seniority etc.

1 He should be medically fit by the approved Doctors by Director General of Shipping, Govt. of India
2 He will go for six month course in recognized Institution by Director General of Shipping, Govt. of India.
3 He will get Continuous Discharge Certificate (CDC) after completion of the training.
4 After getting the CDC he will join on Board Ship for Sea Experience.
5 When he completes the 24 months of Sea Experience (during 24 month he will get stipend Rs 10,000 to 30,000 per month, food & accommodation free.)
6 He is eligible to appear in 2nd Mate examination. Once he clears the examination, he becomes the 2nd officer his salary starts from (Rs 1.50 to 2 lakhs) per month (depends from company to company.).
7 As a 2nd Officers 18 Months Sea Experience required to appear for Chief Officer qualifying examination.
8 Then he becomes the Chief Officer & will draw the salary of (Rs. 2 lakhs to 3 lakhs per month) depend from Company to Company.
9 As a Chief Officer it requires again 18 months experience to qualify for Captain Examination. Once he qualifies the test, he becomes the Captain of the Ship and draws the salary of Rs. 5 lakhs to 10 lakhs per months depending from Company to Company.
10 This is the Bright Future of 10th passed student, if he joins Merchant Navy.

This actually, the MBA officers would want to know from you, hence you must know your own post MBA career goals. India has a huge scope in your field as far as I know. You can plan to pursue your MBA in a foreign country and then decide to work in any country. Make a career plan. My personal suggestion would be Singapore as it has wide career opportunities for your field of work. National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University and Singapore Management University are some options you can check for MBA. On the basis of your grades you do stand a good chance. However, you will need a good GMAT score to be considered for admissions. Check the university websites for details and read the placement statistics. For any confusion, write to them.
