If you want to pursue MFA in India, then you generally need a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree which is also popular as BFA or equivalent degree in a relevant stream with at least 50% marks. Some universities or colleges also accept graduates from Humanities or Arts backgrounds with proven artistic aptitude. The Entrance exams and portfolio assessments of the students are common in top institutes in India.

Candidates seeking admission to the Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University MFA programmes must hold a valid BFA degree in the relevant specialisation. The degree course should have been passed from a recognised university. However, it must be noted that the fulfilment of eligibility requirements does not ensure selection.

Usually, the MFA programme takes two years with a focus on more advanced design and current industry practices.

For entrance to the MFA programme, most institutions or universities demand a Bachelor's degree in the fine arts BFA or a closely related subject, such as the visual arts, applied arts, etc. You might not meet the requirements for MFA admission in most institutions or universities if you have a Bachelor of Science in Physics.
