For all the postgraduate programmes offered by Nalanda Open University, the admissions are merit-based. For some of the postgraduate programmes the NOU admissions are entrance-based. Moreover, the mode of application is online. Candidates need to visit the official website for applying online. Also, candidates can visit the campus and apply offline.

The ranking of NOU is as follows :
'The Week' Hansa Research Survey 2018 as 4th.
National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2019 as 66th.
This is year, it is accredited for NAAC Ranking that will be announced in December.
