National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Guwahati, established in 2008, is the first educational institution specializing in pharmaceutical Science at the national level. Admission to M.S., M.Pharma, M.Tech, M.B.A., and Ph.D. programs is offered by the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research SAS Nagar. Candidates must take the NIPER JEE entrance test and receive a passing mark in order to be admitted to the NIPER Mohali PG programs. Candidates must pass the NIPER JEE and then the interview in order to be admitted to the NIPER Mohali Ph.D programs. The number of students enrolled in PG programmes ranges from 42 to 152. There are four seats available for the NIPER Mohali Ph.D. program.

Courses are available for postgraduate and doctoral programs at the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research in SAS Nagar. Only full-time options are available for NIPER Mohali courses. M.S., M.Pharm, M.Tech, and M.B.A. programs are offered at NIPER Mohali. The NIPER Mohali PG courses last two years. Nine different specializations are available in the Ph.D. programs at NIPER Mohali. Doctoral programs last for six years. The cost of NIPER Mohali courses varies from Rs. 1,50,000 to Rs. 3,91,000 each course. 

In 2023, NIPER Mohali Pharmacy was ranked by NIRF at number 6 out of 125 universities in India, up from number 4 in 2022.In 2022, NIPER Mohali Pharmacy would be ranked third out of 60 colleges in India by IIRF.Mohali NIPER US News' global ranking for international colleges in 2022 is 1556 out of 2000.According to the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World institution Rankings 2022, the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Sector 67, Mohali, is the best institution in India and ranks eighth in Asia for pharmacy and pharmacology.
