Duration of the Programme

• The MS (Pharm.) is a 2-year full-time postgraduate programme

• Divided into 4 semesters

Coursework Requirements

• Completion of all core and elective theory courses

• Completion of assigned laboratory/practical courses

• Passing all semester examinations

• Maintaining the minimum required CGPA (generally ≥ 6.0 on a 10-point scale; subject to NIPER regulations)

 Research Project & Thesis

This is the most important component.

Students must:

• Undertake an independent research project

• Submit a written thesis/dissertation

• Successfully defend the thesis in a viva-voce (oral examination) before an evaluation committee

The thesis must demonstrate:

• Original research work

• Proper data analysis

• Scientific writing standards

 Seminar & Progress Reviews

• Present periodic seminars

• Clear internal progress evaluations

• Satisfy departmental academic committee requirements

 Attendance Requirement

• Maintain the minimum attendance percentage as prescribed by NIPER (usually around 75% or as notified).

Step‑by‑Step: Counselling & Seat Allocation

Qualify the Entrance Exam — NIPER JEE

• You must first appear in and qualify the NIPER Joint Entrance Examination (NIPER JEE), which is the national entrance test for postgraduate pharmacy programmes (including MS Pharma) across all NIPER institutes.

• Your performance in this exam determines your merit rank on the counselling list.

Merit List Publication

• After results are declared, NIPER releases a merit list based on scores obtained in NIPER JEE. Only candidates on this list are eligible for counselling.

Counselling Registration

• Qualified candidates must register for NIPER JEE counselling on the official portal when registration opens.

• You will need to pay a counselling registration fee and complete basic formalities.

Choice Filling

• During counselling, you'll be asked to select your preferred programmes and institutes (e.g., “MS Pharma in Medicinal Chemistry at NIPER Ahmedabad”).

• It's important to arrange choices in order of preference because seat allotment depends on this order and your rank.

Seat Allotment

Seats are allotted based on:

• Your NIPER JEE rank

• Your category (General/OBC/SC/ST/EWS)

• Availability in the chosen programme & institute
   Higher rank candidates get first preference. Lower ranks are considered for remaining vacant seats.

 When seats are allotted, you'll be informed during counselling sessions (often held physically by NIPER or as notified).

Document Verification & Fee Payment

• After seat allotment, you must present original documents for verification:

  • NIPER JEE scorecard

  • GPAT/GATE/NET scorecard (if applicable)

  • Graduation certificates

  • Category/domicile certificates

  • ID proof, etc.

• Then you must pay the admission/tuition fee to confirm your seat. Failure to pay within the stipulated deadline typically results in the seat being forfeited.

Multiple Rounds & Vacancies

• Typically, counselling and seat allotment may happen in multiple rounds:

  • First round chooses from top merit candidates.

  • If seats remain vacant, subsequent rounds of counselling fill them.

  • Sometimes, supernumerary seats (for Government‑sponsored, Foreign Nationals, OCI/PIO, PwBD, etc.) are also filled in additional stages.
