Unlike other colleges NIT Hamirpur’s mechanical engineering department is good for women. The institution has put in place measures such as: - Girls’ hostels that operate around the clock with security personnel who ensure their safety. 

A Women’s complaint resolution cell and counseling 

Equal opportunities for participation during technical fests and other events. 

Women faculty members and mentors who guide them. There are largely more ladies than in other universities studying this field at NIT Hamirpur .

NIT Hamirpur is known for its strong placement record and reported 95.67% placement record with 50 LPA. where ITU has claimed for 100% placement record but there is no specific data

NIT Hamirpur Himachal Pradesh has a beautiful campus spread over 320 acres of area. The hostel has top-notch facilities offered to the students which includes seprate hostel for boys and girls. It has eight boys hostel and four girls hostel. The hostels are a combination of triple-seated or four-seated rooms, while some are double occupancy as well as single occupancy rooms.

NIT Hamirpur is one of the eminent institutes which comes under the thirty-one NITs of the country. NIT Hamirpur was initially set up as a Regional Engineering College (REC) in 1986, with only two departments - Civil Engineering and Electrical Engineering as compared to 13 departments at present. It was in 2002, that REC was given the status of the deemed university and upgraded to NIT Hamirpur. The institute appoints experienced and trained faculty members with years of experience. The institute has a well-equipped infrastructure which includes a library, sports complex, medical facility, hostel, and others.
