As you are from the commerce field, then you are eligible for the Indian Army field. You are not eligible for the Navy and Air force because In order to eligible for the Navy and Air force you should have Physics and Mathematics in the Intermediate level. You cannot join merchant navy directly after 10th. You have to complete your 12th with sufficient marks also appear for the entrance exams conducted by various institute. You have to take Science side in 12th in which maths is compulsory.

Science is needed pursue such courses, because the job of a Merchant is very technical, and hence requires appropriate education. Hence, commerce is not usually considered for these jobs.

Distance vision unaided should be 0.5 (6/12) in each eye or 0.67 (6/9) in better eye and 0.33 (6/18) in other eye. Color blindness is not permitted.

Apply for GP rating course from a reputed institute which has a good placement record. There are various jobs in the merchant navy starting from deck cadets to officer level jobs. You will first need to complete 12th with PCM subjects. Then there are various options for you can apply for deck cadet job in Merchant Navy. Similarly if you have completed B.Tech in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Technology then there are various jobs for you in the Merchant Navy.
