There is nothing called water merchant. In defence, I am assuming you mean to say Indian Navy that protects and safeguards the country's exclusive economic zone, the ocean resources and the coasts from any invasion. Hi Gautam,
You can apply online. But in addition to IMUCET, you also have to clear sponsorship exams of shipping companies, these exams are now heavy on competition and candidate has to get sponsored by a good company to secure admission in IMU courses. Yes, on the basis of your rank in IMT, you can get admission in AEMS and SIMS, but not in IMU.

- To join as a Deck Officer
1. B.Sc. Nautical Science (3 Years)
2. Diploma in Nautical Science (Leads to a B.Sc. Nautical Science. Duration is 1 year)
- To join as an Engineer
1. BE/B Tech Marine Engineering (4 Years)
- To join as a Rating after Class X or XII
1. Pre Sea GP Rating Course (6 Months)
- To join in the catering department after Class X or XII
1. Maritime Catering Course (6 Months)
2. B.Sc. In Marine Catering (3 Years)
Above are the merchant navy courses that may be pursued after Class XII.

Hi Mandar, You should opt for non-medical Science in class 11th and class 12th. Once you have completed your class 12th, you can apply for NDA exam. You may also opt for B.Tech entry after class 12th. The exam is conducted twice a year - every six months usually in April and August.

Hi,
In case of joining Indian Air Force and Indian Navy as Officers, there is no provision available for commerce student's right after 12th. They may join Indian Navy or IAF after graduation though.
Commerce stream students may join Indian Air Force as officers (in Ground Duty Branches) after graduation, by appearing for AFCAT examination.
