To join Civil Engineering at NIT Goa, JEE Main is a mandatory requirement. Admissions to NITs, including NIT Goa, are primarily based on JEE Main scores, followed by the JoSAA counseling process.
However, if you are interested in other paths, you could explore certain state quota or institutional quota options, but these are typically limited and might not apply to every NIT or every course. Yes, candidates can change their BTech branch at NIT Goa after the first year. A student admitted to a particular branch of the undergraduate programme will continue studying in that branch till completion. However, the Institute may permit a student admitted through JEE (Main)/DASA quota, to change from one branch of studies to another after the first two semesters.

DASA is the abbreviation for Direct Admission of Students Abroad. Yes, candidates can get direct admission to BTech courses through DASA at NIT Goa but the seats allocated through DASA are only reserved for Foreign Nationals / Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) / Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), not for every student. However, for admission through DASA candidates are required to qualify for their basic eligibility criteria that state: Admissions are based on SAT scores, and candidates need a valid SAT subject test score in Mathematics Level 2, Physics, and Chemistry.

NIT Goa follows the eligibility for admission follows the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India. For BTech courses, at the time of admission, the candidates should have passed/ appeared and awaiting results of the final examination of the Class 12 or its equivalent with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as main subjects of study. Additionally, the candidates must have secured at least an aggregate of 75%. The selection process for BTech at NIT Goa completely depends on the JEE Mains scores achieved by the candidates'.

NIT Goa was established by an act of parliament (NIT Act 2007) in 2010 and is known as an Institute of National Importance. NIT Goa has workshops and labs and has set up an up-to-date library with high-quality print and electronic resources. There are various resources available in the college for students.
