NIT Sikkim offers four programmes i.e., BTech, MTech, MSc and PhD at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels. Admission to all of the aforementioned courses is entrance-based. In order to secure their seat at the institute, students must fulfil the eligibility and selection criteria for the desired programme. The institute accepts national-level entrance tests followed by counselling through the concerned authority for seat allotment. The basic eligibility to apply to the PhD course is a PG degree in the relevant stream with a 60% aggregate or 6.5 CGPA in BTech/ Mtech from any recognised university or 85% in BTech from any NIT/ IIT/ IIIT/ Other CFTIs. For SC/ST/PwD candidates, a relaxation of 5% marks or 0.5 CGPA will be considered. Further, the selection procedure includes appearing for the Institute based entrance exam and personal interview.

The eligibility criteria for M.Tech admissions at NIT Sikkim is that candidates should have passed graduation with a minimum of 60% aggregate. The duration of the course is for two years. The fee for the M.Tech course is INR 1.4 lakh. The entrance exams accepted include GATE and CCMT.
