NIT Sikkim - National Institute of Technology Eligibility

The eligibility criteria for M.Tech at NIT Sikkim require students to qualify for the BTech/ BE programme with 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA from a recognised university. The institutes also accept admission based on the GATE entrance exams. 

NIT Sikkim offers four programmes i.e., BTech, MTech, MSc and PhD at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels. Admission to all of the aforementioned courses is entrance-based. In order to secure their seat at the institute, students must fulfil the eligibility and selection criteria for the desired programme. The institute accepts national-level entrance tests followed by counselling through the concerned authority for seat allotment. Admission to the PhD course at NIT Sikkim is primarily based on the candidate's performance in a national-level entrance exam such as GATE, UGC NET or UGC CSIR. These exams are conducted annually to evaluate the aptitude and knowledge of candidates who are seeking admission to various postgraduate and research programmes.

The basic eligibility to apply to the PhD course is a PG degree in the relevant stream with a 60% aggregate or 6.5 CGPA in BTech/ Mtech from any recognised university or 85% in BTech from any NIT/ IIT/ IIIT/ Other CFTIs. For SC/ST/PwD candidates, a relaxation of 5% marks or 0.5 CGPA will be considered. Further, the selection procedure includes appearing for the Institute based entrance exam and personal interview.

The basic eligibility criteria to apply for the M.Tech course at NIT Sikkim is that the candidate must have completed a BE/BTech degree in a relevant field from a recognised university or institute. Additionally, the candidate must have secured a minimum of 60% aggregate marks in their undergraduate degree programme. Further, the selection procedure includes GATE and CCMT exams.

The eligibility criteria for M.Tech admissions at NIT Sikkim is that candidates should have passed graduation with a minimum of 60% aggregate. The duration of the course is for two years. The fee for the M.Tech course is INR 1.4 lakh. The entrance exams accepted include GATE and CCMT.

The eligibility criteria for BTech admissions at NIT Sikkim is that candidate should have passed Class 12 with a minimum of 75% aggregate. Moreover, the duration of the course is for four years. Additionally, the fees for the BTech course range between INR 5 Lacs - INR 5.35 lakh. The entrance exams accepted include JEE Main.
