Placement at the M.Sc. level at the NSHM Institute of Health Sciences, Durgapur is also quite good, with successive years seeing excellent student placements. The placement record for the academic year 2023 is 95.6% with above 1,900 students placed in different disciplines. Above 300 recruiters attended the placement drive, of which several big companies included Amazon, HCL Technologies and SAP. Although the average salaries were not mentioned in the search results for M.Sc.graduates, overall positive placement statistics indicate that students from the institute are well-positioned in their respective fields of work after graduation.

The mode of entry for candidates to get into NSHM Institute of Health Sciences, Durgapur is an entrance exam. There are different entrance exams conducted by the institute and other entrance exams like MAKAUT CET, which conducts its undergraduate and postgraduate admissions and also accepts national and state entrance exam scores such as JEE Main and WBJEE. NSHM Institute of Health Sciences, Durgapur is a good college as far as various reviews and ratings are considered. Admission here is pretty smooth. The campus has nice state-of-the-art equipment, including smart classrooms, smart libraries, and smart labs updated with the latest technology. The faculty is highly qualified and experienced and thus positive for the learning process.

In general, admission to BOPTM requires the candidate to have at least passed with 50% marks with a Science background at the Higher Secondary level, especially in subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or Mathematics. There are also requirements on English. Admission is usually based on merit, for which cutoff marks differ each year, as the overall applicant pool and category  allow. NSHM Institute of Health Sciences, Durgapur which offers a Bachelor of Optometry (BOPTM), the highest package can be around INR 4-5 Lacs per annum. Indeed, placement for BOPTM is good as students may find jobs in hospitals, eye care centers, and optical industries.
