Physical Assistant' is confused with a nurse practitioner. They perform the same function, their training and specialisation options are vastly different. A Physical Assistant receives general medicine training and is educated in a disease-centred curriculum approach similar to that of a medical student. They can also specialise in a variety of fields after receiving their degree.

Nurse practitioners are trained in advanced nursing roles using a patient-centred education and practice model. Before beginning their graduate programme, they usually choose a primary speciality and work with those specific patients.

The choice between OT Technician course and Critical Care Technology depends on your interests, career goals, and the type of healthcare environment you find most appealing.

Candidates can check the table below to see the comparison between the two.

Particulars

Operation Theatre Technology

Critical Care Technology

Focus

OTT professionals, also known as surgical technologists, work in operating rooms alongside surgeons. They assist in preparing the operating room, ensuring sterility, passing instruments to surgeons during procedures, and maintaining surgical equipment.

Critical Care Technologists are involved in the care of patients in critical conditions, often working in Intensive Care Units (ICUs) or Critical Care Units (CCUs). They monitor patients, operate life-support equipment, and assist healthcare teams in providing care to critically ill individuals.

Skills

OTTs need to be detail-oriented, have a good understanding of surgical procedures, and be skilled in maintaining a sterile environment.

Critical Care Technologists need strong monitoring and assessment skills, as well as the ability to respond quickly to changes in a patient's condition.

Career Opportunities

Graduates in OTT can find employment in hospitals, surgical centres, and clinics, working closely with surgical teams.

Graduates in Critical Care Technology can work in hospitals, particularly in critical care units, emergency departments, or trauma centres.

You cannnot get direct admission for B.Sc Nursing at Gian Sagar Medical College. The admission to B.Sc Nursing course will be made as per the Punjab government notification and guidelines of Baba Farid University of health sciences.

The eligibility criteria is given below.

10+2 with PCB and English and must obtained a minimum 45% in PCB taken together.

So you have to appear in PPMET 2024 for B.Sc Nursing admission for government seats. Otherwise go with 50% seats for management quota. But you still needs to appear in PPMET exam.
