In BDS you will have more chances of income as compared to BPT but you will have to open a clinic for that. In BPT you need not open a clinic of yours but get associated with several hospitals or health centers or even with sports teams. Both career options are good.

Total registered dentists in India is 2,53,339. Assuming 2,20,000 active dentists in India, we have currently 8,068 shortage of dentists in India. Hence, BDS may not be jobless by the time you're reading this answer and agreeing with my freaking assumptions.

If your aim is just to do any medical qualification then go for BDS as it is still considered by many as better than B.A. MS or BHMS. However, you must know the reality of both the field. B.A. MS - After doing B.A. MS you are allowed to practice only Ayurvedic medicine.

The DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery) and DMD (Doctor of Dental Medicine) are the same degrees. They are honored upon graduation from dental school to turn into a General Dentist.

The BDS is a 5 year (4 years academic education + 1 year mandatory internship) UG degree programme. This course can be pursued through full time and part time courses. The BDS is one of the most sought courses after 12th in medical field. There are many reputed universities in India which are offering the BDS course.
