Anatomy provides a detailed understanding of the human body's structure, including muscles, bones, nerves, and joints, essential for diagnosing and treating physical conditions. Biomechanics focuses on movement patterns, forces, and mechanics affecting the body.

Physiotherapists use this knowledge to assess posture, prescribe exercises, and design rehabilitation programs. A strong foundation in these subjects enables physiotherapists to provide effective, evidence-based treatments tailored to individual patient needs.

In India, Physiotherapy courses generally require a Science background, specifically Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in 12th grade. Since Physiotherapy involves Anatomy, Physiology, and Biomechanics, a Science foundation is necessary.

However, some Diploma courses or bridge programs may allow students from other streams to transition into Physiotherapy. Those interested should check specific university eligibility criteria before applying for a Physiotherapy program.

Physiotherapy is a healthcare profession that focuses on physical rehabilitation, pain management, and mobility enhancement through exercises, manual therapy, and modalities like ultrasound. Unlike doctors who diagnose and treat diseases with medication or surgery, physiotherapists emphasize non-invasive rehabilitation.

They work closely with patients recovering from injuries, surgeries, or neurological conditions, helping restore movement and function while preventing disability through personalized treatment plans.

  1. BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery): Focused on Ayurvedic healthcare.

  2. BHMS (Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery): For homeopathic practices.

Yes, some colleges in Mumbai do offer direct admission for a Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT), mainly private ones. It's normally on the basis of 12th PCB marks, and there may be management quota seats in certain colleges. But good colleges might need NEET UG or state-level entrance exams for merit classes.
