No, Punjabi University Patiala does not offer direct admissions and does not reserve any seats under special management quota. As such students must get admission purely on merit alone with national, state and competitive entrance exam such as JEE Mains, GATE, or Qualifying Exam scores being required for admissions to the different programmes of the university.

Students who wish to get admissions to Punjabi University Patiala can apply online through the institute page. However there are no offline applications as such only online applications are accepted for the PU Patiala programmes. While the selection process is merit and entrance based. Students must also complete the course eligibility and pay application fees before applying.

As a fresher, life at Punjabi University Patiala is quite good. Students receive a warm welcome from their seniors and teachers. Those students who plan to stay in the university hostel feel happy staying there.
Also the university has an Anti-Ragging Cell with the college premises having strict laws against the student found guilty of any act such as abusing, assaulting, threatening, teasing and embarrassment to new students, hence survival at Punjabi University Patiala for freshers is as comfortable as for the seniors.

The Punjabi University Patiala Cutoff 2025 is valid for admissions to various UG and PG programmes at this university. According to the Punjabi University Cutoff 2024, the cutoff in the last round ranged from 22 to 268 for the students belonging to the General HS category. Among all the courses offered to the General HS category students, B.A. B.Ed proved to be the toughest for admission with the closing cutoff score being 268 in the last round. In contrast, PG Diploma in Folk Music and Sufi Music was the easiest course, with the closing cutoff in the last round being 22.

In the case of B.Com 2 and Year admissions candidates are generally normal continuation/re-registration of students only as opposed to 1 st Year admission where new admissions are made. Although no definite dates of re-registration are necessarily announced as being the start of admissions, the academic calendar shows that the first-semester (odd semesters) of continuing UG classes is normally scheduled to begin on or about July 22, 2025. BPT Cutoff at Punjabi University Patiala (merit based on 12th marks):
2023 (General, All India): 54.5% aggregate marks in PCB+English.
2022 (General, All India): 82.25%.
For General Home State category, cutoffs were higher: 88% (2023) and 91.25% (2022).
Eligibility requires 10+2 with PCB & English, minimum 50% aggregate.
