To be eligible to pursue BA at Rabindra Bharati University, candidates should have completed Class 12 or equivalent exam in relevant subjects from a recognised educational board. For BA courses offered by the Faculty of Arts, candidates must have passed Class 12 with a minimum of 50% in the respective subject in which Major/Hons/Hons with Research is sought (45% in the case of SC/ST/PWD category candidates). For BA courses offered by the Faculty of Fine Arts, students must appear for an admission test conducted by the university. Aspirants must hold the documents proving their eligibility for verification at the time of admission.

Candidates who have completed graduation or Hons. graduation or postgraduation from any UGC recognised university with at least 50% aggregate (45% aggregate for SC/ ST) either at UG or PG level can apply for RBU Kolkata B.Ed programme. Aspirants must hold the documents proving their eligibility for verification at later stages of admission. RBU Kolkata considers the merit of the candidates in the last qualifying exam.

Rabindra Bharati University has not specified the minimum aggregate for any of the MA specialisation. However, aspirants are required to fulfil the below eligibility criteria to apply for MA course.
- Candidates need to pass BA (Hons) in relevant discipline to apply for Faculty of Arts MA specialisations. For some of the specialisations such as ENVS, Geography, HR and HD, etc., BSc/ BCom (Hons) is also accepted.
- Aspirants must pass MA or BA (Hons./ Spl.) in a relevant subject to apply for Faculty of Fine Arts and Faculty of Visual Arts MA specialisations.

The final selection of some of the courses is based on practical and/ or theoretical tests conducted by the university and the merit obtained in the qualifying examination. The university also conducts online interviews for the final selection of some of the courses. Rabindra Bharati University (RBU) has three faculties, namely Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Fine Arts, and Faculty of Visual Arts, that offer UG, PG, and doctoral programmes.

Eligibility criteria : Honours graduate/ Post Graduate with Honours from any U.G.C. recognized University in any subject or its equivalent having special aptitude in the concerned subject are eligible to apply.
Admission to the courses under the Faculty of Fine Arts will be made through Admission Test. Marks obtained in the Admission Test will be counted towards preparation of merit list.
Reservation of seats for the reserved categories of ST/SC/OBC/PH will be as per the West Bengal Higher Educational Institutions (Reservation in Admission) Rules, 2013. Reserved category

It is a full time course. Duration of this course is 4 years.
Eligibility criteria:
Candidate must have passed 10+2 or its equivalent examination with special aptitude in the relevant field.
