No, School of Government, MIT WPU is not a government college. It is a private college which was established in the year 2005. The college gives PG programme to students. The course is given across in the Political Leadership & Government specialisation. MIT School of Government (MIT-SOG) flasghip programme is 2-yr Master's programme in Political Leadership & Government (MPG).

Admission to the MA in Political Leadership and Government at the School of Government, MIT WPU is merit-based. Candidates must clear the descriptive written test and a Personal Interaction (PI) round. A merit list is prepared based on the candidate's performance in both stages to decide final admission.

To qualify for the Dr. Vishwanath Karad Scholarship (100% waiver), MIT WPU MA students must have scored 90% or above in graduation and 85% or above in Class 12. The scholarship is awarded based strictly on academic merit, and eligible students are encouraged to apply during the admission process.

Completed a 3-year graduation in any stream can apply for the School of Government, MIT WPU MA. A minimum of 50% aggregate marks is required (45% for Reserved Class category candidates from Maharashtra State only). Meeting the eligibility criteria is mandatory to proceed with the admission process.

MIT WPU School of Government has a total intake of 40 in the MA programme. Candidates are offered seat based on their score in the entrance exam. Aspirants need to pass MIT WPU CET for admission. Selected candidates are further called for a personal interview round for admission. Aspirants must pay the first installment of the fee after completion of the selection rounds to confirm their seat.
