1-Ditch those guide books. The syllabus cannot be covered with them ever.
2-Trust past year's questions paper more than your syllabus.
3-The books I tried to read were - (a) Mass communication Theory : Foundations, Fermented, and Future, sixth edition, by Stanley J. Baran, Dennis K. Davis. (b) Introduction to Communication Studies by John Fiske (3rd Edition) (c) Mass Media Research- An Introduction; 9th Edition, by Roger D. Wimmer and Joseph R. Dominick (d) Development Communication by Uma Narula (e) International Communication by V. S. Gupta (f) Public Relations Handbook (2nd Edition) by Alison Thacker (g) Advertising Theory and Practice by Ruchi Gupta (h) Oxford Dictionary of Media and Communication
4-For topics like laws, ethics, history of media, animation or film, I made my own notes with the help of internet. Just go through old papers and find out concepts which are asked often. Then you can study those from pdfs or from other internet based sources.
5-The notes or resources, which you have studied in your post graduation, are extremely helpful for this examination.
6-Keval J. Kumar is a common book. A lot of students like that for NET as well. I didnt find that helpful though. Hope this helps. Thanks for reading.

1- The major difference between the National Eligibility Test and the Symbiosis Entrance Test exam is the syllabus. As we already know, the NET examination is national-level; therefore, it is carried out at a wide level and for 81 subjects. While the Symbiosis Entrance Test examination is administered at the state level, the state determines the subjects.
2- National Eligibility Test is organized on a broad scale, and only 5 percent of the total students appearing is estimated to clear it. The percentage of candidates clearing the Symbiosis Entrance Test is comparatively higher than NET.
3- The National Eligibility Test exam is conducted twice a year whereas the Symbiosis Entrance Test exam is conducted once every year.
4- The qualifying students for National Eligibility Test can appeal for teaching in any college in the country. Whereas The qualified students for Symbiosis Entrance Test can only apply to particular state-owned colleges or universities for teaching.
5- All the National Eligibility Test qualifying students are awarded Junior Fellowships whereas students are awarded Junior Fellowships if they have passed the Symbiosis Entrance Test and applied for the same during the application registration.
