ISTD certifications are earned through the ISTD short-term programs, which the government of India recognises. They demonstrate a professional's capability to adhere to proven frameworks and best practices in human resources and training and development, which similar certifications may lack. ISTD as an organisation is over 50 years old and running, with a key affiliation to Switzerland's IFTDO (International Federation of Training and Development Organizations).

The placement guarantee varies based on the course taken by the student. There are two possible outcomes:
- Guaranteed internship: Certain courses assure an internship with a stipend of at least Rs. 10,000 per month
- Guaranteed full-time employment: Other courses offer full-time job placement within 6 months of course completion
If a student does not get the guarantee (as stated by the course conditions), Internshala will reimburse the learner's course fee. This framework guarantees that students either find good work opportunities or receive their investment back.
