For getting into the undergraduate Spanish course in DY Patil University, you need to fulfill some basic criteria. That is after completing your 10+2 from any recognised board. There is no special entrance exam as such for this programme. Admissions are generally offered on the basis of your academic and merit in general. In this programme, the Hispanic language along with other details related to Hispanic culture will be taught, so that students can get jobs in International business, diplomacy, etc. For more guidance regarding the application process do contact the University directly.

You can pursue Spanish courses if you are interested in learning the Spanish language and wish to pursue a career as a Spanish teacher or translator. Spanish courses are language courses in which you will learn Spanish language. You will also learn about the history and culture of Spanish speaking people. Spanish is available as specialisation in Arts degree. You can pursue BA in Spanish, MA in Spanish and PhD in Spanish. Apart from these courses you can also pursue certificate or Diploma Spanish courses. The medium of instruction in these courses will be English since Spanish is not native to India. Learning Spanish language in India can be an interesting experience.

Yes you can secure admission to Spanish courses without appearing for or qualifying for an entrance exam. For the BA Spanish course, most colleges offer admission based on the your marks in Class 12 and do not require you to have appeared for an entrance exam. Though many reputed colleges offer admission through entrance exams for MA and PhD Spanish courses some colleges offer direct admission. Many private and state-level colleges also offer admission based on merit in postgraduate and doctoral-level Spanish courses. Moreover, distance or online Spanish courses do not require you to have qualified for an entrance exam.

Yes IGNOU offers postgraduate and certificate-level courses that will enable you to learn the Spanish language. The School of Foreign Languages (SOFL) of IGNOU offers Spanish courses with an affordable fee structure. You need to possess professional proficiency in English as the medium of instruction and explanations in course materials will be in English. Certificate-level courses do not require you to have any previous knowledge of Spanish, however, the master’s course can be pursued only if you have basic proficiency in Spanish.
