Stevens Institute of Technology demands English proficiency exam scores from all overseas applicants and has categorised students in three bands on the basis of their score.

BAND 1

Applicants who score in the below ranges are not required to enroll in English Language Communication (ELC) courses.

TOEFL: iBT: 86 or higher

TOEFL: PBT: 567 or higher

IELTS: 7.0 or higher

Duolingo: 120 or higher

 

BAND 2

Applicants who submit the scores in this range must either enroll in an English Language Communication (ELC) course during their first semester at Stevens or complete and pass the Stevens English Communication Proficiency Exam (ECPE) upon arrival to campus.

TOEFL: PBT: 550-567 (Speaking: 22; Writing 22)
