Each participating institute released its own SET cutoff. The SET cutoff determined if the candidate will be eligible to appear for the SET selection process which includes Written Ability Test, Group Discussion and Personal Interviews. The following are the various factors that determined the SET cutoff:
- Marking scheme of the exam
- The difficult level of the exam
- Number of students appearing for the exam
- Seats offered by the participating institutes
- Previous years' cutoff trends
- Reservation policy of institutes
- The lowest and average marks scored by the candidates in the exam.
